THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY Fossil Fuels are GOOD – Sources of ENERGY (heat, electricity, etc.) Fossil Fuels are BAD – Extracting hurts the earth’s lithosphere Oil spills Deforestation and land clearing for mines – Loss of habitat – Loss of BIODIVERSTIY – Soil erosion Fossil Fuels are UGLY – Burning FF releases carbon dioxide into the atmosphere Leads to global warming Air pollution

ALTHOUGH FOSSIL FUELS HAVE NEGATIVE EFFECTS ON THE EARTH AND INDIRECTLY HUMANS, WE CONTINUOUSLY USE THEM!

POLITICAL ISSUES Environmental issues have become POLITICAL ISSUES Politicians have an “environmental platform” also when they are running for office Environmental issues/problems effect EVERYONE so politicians can be elected based on how they deal with the issues
