9 5 th Dot Aero Council Meeting | Slide 9www.information.aero Progress report: B2B applications Engaged top Internet experts to identify opportunities The good news –The DNS technology developed since 2000 to allow.aero to fulfill its original goal and develop industry communications platform –There is a clear cost savings potential –It can increase the flexibility and allow faster adoption to changes –It can smooth the industry transition to internet-style services The challenge –.aero, is an integral part of infrastructure and cannot succeed as a “product” on its own –the success will depend on how well it can serve industry applications –It requires a very fresh look at the state of industry communications First informal consultations with airlines (Aug/Sep) provided positive feedback For full details see next presentation

10 5 th Dot Aero Council Meeting | Slide 10www.information.aero Summary Domain registrations alone cannot sustain the.aero initiative but have the potential to fund the underlying operational activities The underlying technology offers large potential for simplifying business communications and generating industry savings To realize the potential we must consider wider scope than.aero domain or DNS
