HAITI is a beautiful Caribbean island… …that attracts a large number of tourists every year.

Haiti is geographically close to the United States of America…

However, economically they are light years apart. Haiti is the poorest country in the Western hemisphere.

Haiti is an Arawak Indian word meaning “the land of the mountains”

Haiti was the first independent nation in Latin America…

…which led to the first black-led republic in the world! Jean-Max Bellerive: Prime Minister … and the only country in the Western Hemisphere to undergo a successful slave revolution…

Haiti is home to a rich cultural history. This comes from the various ethnic groups that have inhabited the island: French, African and Spanish

But deforestation and flash flooding have destroyed crops.

Haiti relies heavily on aid from other countries.

Roughly 75% of Haitian households lack running water.

Most people living in Haiti are at a high risk of major infectious disease. A Haitian child with cholera Only 40% of the population have access to basic health care

Only 20% of secondary school age children are enrolled!
