C APE B UFFALO IN THE A FRICAN S AVANNA By: Lainey Birnbaum

Both genders of the Cape Buffalo have horns but the male’s horns are larger. The bond between the females in a herd are strong. The buffalos horns are also its adaptations.

Sometimes the males leave the pack and wonder alone. When alone they will challenge animals that are much grater their size.

With in a few hours the new born calf is able to keep up with the herd. Did you know that a female cape buffalo will give birth to only one calf?

The some of Cape Buffalo’s preys are: Humans (and will kill many each year) Hippos when alone Crocs when alone And they eat grass at night in a herd Predators: Lions Hyena’s The Cape buffalos are on the 2 nd and 3 rd level consumers.

B UTTERFLY A NIMAL I believe that my animal is the butterfly animal because there might not be the cape buffalo in different places. Then in Africa some species of animals and people might over populate.
