WATERBAPTISM An Examination of the Scriptures By Rev. D. L. McQuinn

Acts 22:16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord. Acts 10:43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.. WATER BAPTISM IS TO BE ADMINISTERED IN JESUS NAME Baptism is for washing away of sins (remission); Calling on the name of the Lord in baptism. If you believe in him, you will be baptized in his name for the remission of your sins. Believer’s sins are remitted (forgiven) through his name at baptism.

WATER BAPTISM IS TO BE ADMINISTERED IN JESUS NAME (con’t) Matt 28:19-20 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. Notice it says name (singular) not names (plural). Father, Son and Holy Ghost are titles or offices that God holds, not names.

Luke 24:47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Col 3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. WATER BAPTISM IS TO BE ADMINISTERED IN JESUS NAME (CON’T) This includes baptism This remission of sins is accomplished by baptism in Jesus name. Peter was given the keys to the Kingdom. (Mat. 16:19). Was taught for 40 days by Jesus after his resurrection (Acts 1:3). Had his understanding opened by Jesus (Luke 24:45). Who is right, Peter or those who teach otherwise? Jesus said the Holy Ghost would lead and guide him in all truth (John 16:13). We need to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of our sins just as Peter taught here in Acts.

We experience a birth of water when the name of Jesus Christ is applied to us when we are immersed in water thus receiving remission (forgiveness) of sins. John 3:5 WATER BAPTISM IS TO BE ADMINISTERED IN JESUS NAME (CON’T) Acts 4:10-12 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Acts 10:47-48 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days. Peter speaking here commands baptism in Jesus Name which is the name of the Lord Acts 2:36-39 “Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

Definitions SIN-Lawlessness or transgression of God's will, either by omitting to do what God's law requires or by doing what it forbids. The transgression can occur in thought, word, or deed. Mankind was created without sin, morally upright and inclined to do good. But sin entered into human experience when Adam and Eve violated the direct command of God by eating the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden. Because Adam was the head and representative of the whole human race, his sin affected all future generations. Associated with this guilt is a corrupted nature passed from Adam to all his descendants. Out of this perverted nature arise all the sins that people commit ; no person is free from involvement in sin.
