Page 3 REV.1 dell’APRILE 2012 EDIBLE OIL REFINERY High pressure steam generators have been introduced in food industries to replace the old system which was working with thermal oil heaters The thermal oil may contaminate the edible oil and in general food products and therefore all new installations are using high pressure steam and the old installations are now converting to this new system The deodorizer, special staiinless steel heat exchanger, needs in fact a very high temperature,in a range of 200/300 °C, to deodorize the oil. The temperatures are depending of type of oil is produced such as sun flower oil, soja, palm, margarine…

Page 4 REV.1 dell’APRILE 2012 EDIBLE OIL REFINERY Garioni Naval is producing High Pressure Steam Generators, our model GMT HP,since the year 1990 developing the coil type steam generators at medium pressure to adapt to this special application and improving the design of piping/installation GN has supplied in the last 18 years over 500 units all over the world. GN started to produce steam generators, model GMT since the beginning of the years “60 and till now we have produced over 5000 units. This experience has allowed GN to design a perfect coil realised in 15 Mo3 for high pressure steam for the special application of food industries process and in particular for edible oil refinery

Page 8 REV.1 dell’APRILE 2012 BIODIESEL Since few years in the world has been started the production of biodiesel for traction purpose The biodiesel refineries have been developed till now, producing diesel for traction from natural product This tendency has now slowed down due to the small world supply of raw materials to produce the biodiesel Another factor which has influenced to reduce biodiesel refineries is the over production of glycerin during the industrial process The glycerin is now a matter of study by burners/boilers manufacturers to avoid extra cost to drain this product

Page 19 REV.1 dell’APRILE 2012 DESCRIPTION HIGH PRESSURE NATURAL CIRCULATION STEAM GENERATOR TYPE GMT HP HEATED SURFACE: The natural circulation steam generator GMT HP is a vertical, once-through, coil type. Surrounding the combustion area is the radiant coil, constructed from two tubes rolled together, in the style of a two-start thread, two for the inner cylindrical coil. Surrounding the radiant coil is the convection surface, constructed from a single tube, rolled in close- coiled rings, to form the outer cylindrical coil. The three tubes forming the coil are connected in parallel, their bottom inlet being connected to a vertical down-comer pipe and their top outlet being connected to a short vertical riser. This arrangement ensures that inlet and outlet are both at the top of the generator for easy of connection. The connections from the generator to the circuits are end tubes welding type. The coil is housed in a cylindrical steel casing and completed by a thermal insulation of rockwool, high density 100 kg/ m 3, thickness 150 mm, and an aluminium plate, thickness 1 mm, to limit the calorific losses.

Page 20 REV.1 dell’APRILE 2012 DESCRIPTION The coil will be suitably arranged to allow uniform expansion and avoid deformations. - COIL MATERIAL:seamless tube, type 15 Mo 3, following DIN 17.155 - grade III - CONTROL: % X-Ray of dye check, follow local regulations The coil will be designed following the rules and for the following parameters: - Design pressure:100 bar - Test pressure:165 bar

Page 23 REV.1 dell’APRILE 2012 MODULATION TROUGH MICROPROCESSOR More accurate modulation range Turn down ratio : 1÷8 gas fired 1÷5 diesel fired In case of dual fuel ( for example natural gas/diesel oil) keep the trimming of booth fuel Increasing of efficiency saving fuel with a more accurate modulation range

Page 24 REV.1 dell’APRILE 2012 ADVANTAGES OF GMT HP Our GMT HP steam generators have a furnace of the OPEN TYPE (not with reverse flame) and big enough to have small thermal load. This design has been specially studied to be able to use all branch of market burners, in order to guarantee a fast and perfect after sale service world-wide. The special design with three smoke passes assures high efficiency, low exhaust gas temperature and thermal load in the furnace low enough to allow us to reach almost all anti-pollution standard regarding NOX emissions. Steam inlet and outlet have been designed on the side and not on top of the boiler to avoid connection problems and to be sure not to have any troubles with the refractory material, normally very delicate in the HP boiler, due to the continuous expansion of the coil during the service at high temperature. GMT HP are insulated with high density rock wool and external jacket pre-painted jacket (RAL 500). Coils are realized in special steel pipe type 15 MO3 to guarantee the boiler’s long life also in hard working conditions, due to the high pressure and temperature of service of the GMT HP itself. Coil’s dimensions, (big pipes diameters used in all our GMT HP) large furnace, low thermal load, and low pressure drops, assure the steam circulation already at low pressure. The minimum water level control is realized with one auto controlled probe, which allows us to reduce the water content of the circuit that was necessary for the inertia of the old water control systems. The thermal efficiency of GMT HP steam generators, due to our three gas passes design and to our big heated surface is higher the all other type of high pressure steam generator on the market. The exact % depends from the working pressure and from the type of fuel used.

Page 25 REV.1 dell’APRILE 2012 DIFFERENCES BETWEEN COIL AND RISING PIPES TYPE COIL does not have problem of circulation and keep same drop of pressure (which is not possible on rising pipes type WITH BLAST COSEQUENCES…) COIL has not mechanical stress and do not have welding problems between pipes and collectors COIL keeps an homogeneous dilatation at warm condition-rising pipes, different dilatation of up/down collector and pipes
