Simple Machines Webquest
2
Introduction A simple machine is a machine that does work with only one movement. Simple machines make work easier by: Changing the direction of the force, Decreasing the amount of force required, OR Decreasing the distance a force is applied There are six simple machines: Inclined plane Wedge Screw Lever Wheel and axle Pulley
3
Task You will be assigned to a specific part of this webquest and will be given special tasks and resources that can be used to complete the task. NOTE: Our book discusses SIX simple machines. Some websites include a seventh – gears. You may include this simple machine in your project, but that is not a requirement. Groups: Snowflakes Icicles Wind
4
Snowflakes Your job is to learn about simple machines and share what you have learned with the class. You will use this information to create your own machine. You might want to use the chart below to guide your note-taking. Simple MachineDescriptionExampleHow Example Makes Work Easier
5
Snowflakes Step 1: Visit the first simple machine website.First simple machine website Write down at least two facts for each simple machine from that website.First simple machine website Step 2: Read our textbook pages 109-115. Write down at least one new fact for each simple machine from your reading. Step 3: Play the game from the Museum of Science and Industry about simple machines. Write down at least three things you learned from playing the game Simple machines gameSimple machines game Step 4: Take interactive quiz: Interactive quizInteractive quiz Finished early?
