2. Introduction
The general impression of this essay is the difficulties and the benefits of forgiving.
Purpose: forgiveness takes courage and is the solution for self improvement
He mentions this in paragraph 19. It also shows people that they should forgive others no matter what pain they may have caused them.

3. Intended audience
The intended audience for this essay is anyone who struggles to forgive others (all ages)
In many of the examples, it shows that most of the people who are in a position that have to forgive are usually in a place of inferior authority in the eyes of society such as children, women and gays.
Many of them have been put into situations that has scarred them and that affected their lives in negative ways
To keep living a fulfilling life, they must forgive.

4. Tone and mood
TONE
The tone of this essay is slightly informal yet informative. This informity of the essay makes it engaging and simple to understand.
MOOD
The mood of the essay is sympathetic.
Ex. “A small boy in an industrial city in Ontario was beaten severely many times by his father, to the extent that the boy not infrequently required a doctor to stitch up the wounds.”
This forms an idea and/or image in the reader’s head which is written in a way where the audience feels sympathy for the boy.

5. Language
the language used in this essay is less complex than some other formal essays.
The author did this so his essay would be comprehensible for a larger audience (young and old).
This is effective because we were capable of read this essay with ease and a younger audience would not have difficulty either.
It was relatable and filled with examples which made every point understandable. It is an informative essay that can be appreciated by all ages and it is very educational.

Although forgiveness may seem difficult in the moment, the end result will be worth the peace of mind.
Flow
June Callwood uses stories and real life examples to flow easily through the essay, loose and free since it leaves space for interpretation for the audience.
Methods of development
Methods of developments are Anecdotes and Cause and Effect.
ANECDOTE:
“She showed the infant proudly to her mother, whose reaction was a look of naked disgust.”

Anecdote
The purpose of anecdotes in this essay is to give the audience a realistic example or evidence to support the ideas. In this case, anecdotes are used to allow the audience to deeply understand the author’s points.

Anecdote
In paragraphs 1,2 and 5 there are examples of anecdotes being used. An anecdote is a brief story that shares an interesting or amusing event dealing with an incident. These stories portray different situations where the victims end up forgiving the “culprit” for whatever offence they committed. The use of anecdotes are effective because it shows the readers a real life situation so that they can relate to the topic in a clear perspective and so that they can see how and why forgiveness is used in various settings and positions.

8. Rhetorical and literary devices
Allusion
In paragraph 17, an example of an allusion is being used. An allusion is a direct or indirect reference to something you assume the audience or reader will understand and appreciate. These references help give the author a strong argument due to previous facts that are known to support their argument. An allusion is effective because it stimulates an idea or thought in the reader's mind. While remembering this thought or creating a new idea, they are reminded of past events that had an impact on a certain mood or feeling that relates towards the author's argument. An allusion relates to the topic of an essay because it helps the audience find the mood and tone of the essay.
Allusion
The purpose of an allusion is to help the audience fully understand the context, mood and tone of the essay. It may also be used to further emphasize a main point or find similarities to real life experiences.

Why do you think forgiveness is so hard for some people to give?
Are there situations that are truly unforgivable? Why or why not?
Why do we hold grudges and choose to stay mad about a certain situation/person?
