Article One Legislature/Congress Jigsaw Reading – Pick three highlights from your section- prepare to share with the class – Most important article to people at the time- “free and independent states” coming together as partners – Necessary and Proper Clause allows Congress to make laws necessary to carry out Constitution

Article Two The President – What are the limits? Find 3 – How is the Prez selected – What are some Prez Powers? – Who does he have to update – For what can the Prez be removed? – The President didn’t have much power in 1787- the USA was a huge but weak country.

Article Three The Supreme Court – How many courts are established? – What can they judge? – What is treason, and how is it punished? – 87% of all court cases are tried in local/state courts.

Article Four Full Faith and Credit, Privileges and Immunities – What could happen if you got married in AZ, then moved to Illinois? Applies to public documents (birth records, marriage, divorce, criminal and civil judgments) – How do new states get into the USA? – What is each state guaranteed?

Article Five How many states have to ratify (approve) an new amendment? What two ways can be used to pass an amendment? It took 203 years to ratify the 27 th Amendment- a rule on pay raises!

Articles Six and Seven What is banned as a requirement for office? (Article 6, Section 3) USA planned to pay back debts (from Revolution) and keep treaties and Constitutional promises What day was the Constitution proclaimed?
