Many ways to complete the statement “Leadership is…” Many different definitions and interpretations. We all bring our own experiences to form our definition much like we do with concepts such as happiness, love, peace.

Leadership Defined Many ways to define leadership. Focus of Group Processes - Leader is at the centre of group change and activity. Leader represents a group. Personality Perspective – leadership is a combination of traits which help leaders influence others. Leadership is an act or behaviour which influences others.(Role Model).

Leadership Defined Our Class Definition A working definition for this course would take these perspectives into account. Leadership is a process whereby an individual influences a group of individuals to achieve a common goal. Key words of this statement are Process, Influence, Group, and Goals. This definition will be used for the rest of the year

Leadership Defined Process Means that it is not a trait but is an event that occurs between leaders and their followers. Process implies that a leader affects and is affected by followers. Not a top down, authoritarian. It is available to everyone when traits are not used.

Leadership Defined Influence Leadership must contain influence. It describes how a leader affects action in followers. Without influence leadership does not exist.

Leadership Defined Groups Groups are the context of where leadership takes place. Leadership involves influences groups to have a common purpose. Self help is not considered leadership in this definition.

Leadership Defined Goals Leadership involves directing a group towards accomplishing some task or end. Leaders direct their energies towards individuals who are trying to achieve something.

Groupthink is describes as putting “unanimous agreement ahead of reasoned problem solving.” 6. How did the characters in the film demonstrate groupthink? 7. Why might they have been susceptible to groupthink?
