Life is a sacred gift. This belief forms the Church’s teachings on abortion, death penalty, euthanasia, war, & violence. (C.E. of L.) Nothing can take away a person’s dignity, not even his/her own destructive behavior. (That’s why it’s the hub on the wheel!)

Is individualism a good response to injustice? YES -- NO Every person should be able to participate in society b/c the community depends on it. We are many parts, we are all one body. And the gifts we have, we are given to share.

“The common good means the most good for the most people.“ AGREE or DISAGREE? Why? FAMILY =

First & foremost: Everyone has a right to life. (This right makes all other rights possible.)

What does this phrase mean? This applies not only to those w/o $$$ but also to those who are deprived of their basic rights &/or of equal participation in society. B/c the needs of the poor & vulnerable are greater, it’s imp. to meet their needs BEFORE others have access to non-essential things.

There are 2 aspects of work: Think of Rerum Novarum’s demands. Which is more important?

Solidarity recognizes that all humans are connected; what happens to one affects the other. Solidarity calls us to work with those who are vulnerable & marginalized. “We’re all in this together!” Ubuntu Ubuntu roughly translated is "I am because we are.”
