6 PC Power Configurations All PCs have power save features enabled by standard, locked down configuration Hard Disks turn off after 15 min of non use (5 min if on battery) Monitors turn off after 15 min System goes to Standby after 30 min of non use (15 if on battery) System hibernates after an hour of non use if on battery 6-Jul-16EPA Confidential6

7 Printer Power Configuration All printers have 3 power levels: Active Ready Sleep All go to “ready” mode after printing and to “sleep” mode when not used for 30 to 240 min 6-Jul-16EPA Confidential7

8 Printer Supplies & Recycling Toner level is monitored for all printers, and a replacement ticket is automatically generated prior to no- toner message All printer cartridges are returned to the supplier in pre-paid mailing packages for recycling Packaging materials are separated with the cardboard and styrofoam separated and recycled at each location 6-Jul-16EPA Confidential8

9 Planned Enhancements EPA is currently piloting a PC management tool to support Power Management which will enable off-hour: Patch Management Software Distribution Virus scanning 6-Jul-16EPA Confidential9

10 PC Power Management Power management will enable us to: Enforce policy for daily PC Power Down Wake computers up as necessary to conduct patching, software deployments, and virus scahns at night or on weekends PCs in off mode over night and through the weekends will produce significant reduction in electricity use User productivity will be enhanced with maintenance functions completed in non-operational times 6-Jul-16EPA Confidential10
