SQUADS #1 Learning Intentions - Today, I am going to address these College Readiness Standards in Math: 1. Numbers: Concepts & Properties, 20-23. 2. Properties of Plane Figures, 20-23. 3. Probability, Statistics & Data Analysis, 20-23. 4. Measurement, 24-27. 5. Graphical Representations, 16-19, 20-23. “10 th Grade Math” CPW19 Success Criteria – DON’T do any complicated computations that need a calculator. A calculator isn't required, so if your solution absolutely depends on one, you are probably headed down a time-consuming and incorrect path.

1.1. The absolute value of 7 – 3 = 4. The absolute value of 3 – 7 = 4. 4 – 4 = 0. ANSWER: D

2.2. x + 57 ° = 180 °, because they are a linear pair. So x = 123°. y + 72 ° = 180 °, because they are a linear pair. So y = 108 °. z‘s linear pair is 180 ° - 72 ° - 57 ° = 51 °, so z = 180 ° - 51 ° = 129 °. Thus, x + y + z = 123 ° + 108 ° + 129 ° = 360 ° ANSWER: J

3.3. Because order of vertices ABCD matter, D has to be near the arrow above. To go from B to A, you move up 3 and right 4. So do the same from C to D. -6 + 3 = -3 and 6 + 4 = 10, or (10, -3). ANSWER: F

4.4. 10 th Grade Math
9
4.4. Simply multiply 4 possible road choices, by 2 possible bike path choices, by 6 possible trail choices. That is, 4 * 2 * 6 = 48. ANSWER: J

10 th Grade Math 5.5.

5.5. The top of the cylinder has radius 10. So, Surface Area = 2π(10) 2 + 2π(10)(20). SA = 2π(100) + 2π(200) SA = 200π + 400π SA = 600π ANSWER: D

10 th Grade Math 6.6.

6.6. Because point M has non-zero x- and y- coordinates, it does not lie on the x- nor y- axis. Also, because the x- and y-coordinates have opposite signs (i.e. being positive or negative) point M must be in quadrants II or IV only. ANSWER: E
