2. Accelerated Learning Model Offered at STCC  Save time!  Stay on track! Announcing an exciting opportunity for motivated students: Take Review for College Writing and English Composition 1 in the same semester.

3. Open English is accelerated writing that creates an academic community of its companion cohort. Ten students are mainstreamed into English supported by Review for College Writing.

4. Open English at STCC is based on the work of Peter Adams of the Community College of Baltimore County, whose Accelerated Learning Program (ALP) helps developmentally-placed students save time and enter programs earlier than expected by participating in intensive writing courses that span the higher level of developmental writing and the gateway English Composition 1 course.

5. Thomas Bailey and Sung-Woo Cho of the Community College Research Center (CCRC), Teachers College, Columbia University discussed the value of accelerated learning in “Issue Brief: Developmental Education in Community Colleges” prepared for: The White House Summit of Community College. Others from CCRC including Davis Jenkins have added information, which indicates positive outcomes.
