The Jerusalem Conference Acts 15 Acts 15:1 – Some men came from Jerusalem to Antioch and were teaching that you had to be circumcised to be saved. They are known as Judaizers. Paul and Barnabas led a group to Jerusalem to discuss the issue.

The Jerusalem Conference Acts 15 Peter makes an argument from history. (15:7-11). Paul makes an argument from experience. (5:12). James makes an argument from Scripture (15:13-18) James recommends some concessions. – No sexual immorality – No meat offered to idols – No meat with blood

The Jerusalem Conference Acts 15 Lessons We need talk to those with whom we disagree. We need to keep our focus on our mission. We should not require of others what God has not required. Unity is not the same as uniformity.

Philippi (Acts 16:11-40) There was no synagogue. Paul started teaching some women down by the river. The first convert in Europe was a woman: Lydia.

Philippi (Acts 16:11-40) A demon-possessed girl starts following them around. Paul casts out the demon—which makes her owners upset. They are taken before the local magistrate. Paul and Silas are beaten and thrown in prison. At midnight Paul and Silas are singing.

Philippi (Acts 16:11-40) Suddenly there is an earthquake, and the prisoners are set free. The jailor was going to kill himself, but Paul stopped him. The jailor asked, “What must I do to be saved?” Paul teaches him about Jesus. The jailor and his household are baptized. The magistrates ask Paul to leave town.

Thessalonica (Acts 17:1-9) Paul goes to the synagogue to teach. Some Jews are converted, and a number of Greeks. The Jewish leaders get upset and hire some men to start a riot.

Berea (Acts 17:10-15) Paul taught in the synagogue, and many people believed. The Bereans were noble. – They received the message eagerly. – They studied to see if it was true. – They were willing to change.

Athens (Acts 17:16-34) Paul tours the city of Athens. He noticed all the statues to Greek gods. So Paul preaches about an “unknown God.”

Paul’s Sermon God is the creator God created all nations from one source God sustains us, and wants us to seek him God is our Father God is the Judge God proved this by raising Jesus from the dead.

Paul’s Sermon Don’t be intimidated by human wisdom. Don’t be afraid of learning.

Corinth (Acts 18:1-18) Paul joined Aquilla and Priscilla. Paul mended tents for an income and preached every Sabbath. Paul stayed a year and a half. Converted many.
