2 Biography  Millard Fillmore was the 23 rd president but only the 13 th under the U.S. Constitution.  Vice President under Zachary Taylor March 4, 1849 until July 10, 1850.  February 7 1800 in Cayuga County, New York ; died in Buffalo, New York, March 7 1874.  In June 1848, Millard Fillmore was nominated by the Whig national convention for vice president.

3 Campaign  Millard Fillmore was the last of the Whig party members to hold the office.  Was chosen as Zachary Taylor’s Vice president.  Zachary Taylor died of what is thought to be acute gastroenteritis.

4 Major Accomplishments  Signed the Compromise of 1850 which stalled the start of the Civil War.  He wanted to unite the country behind anti- Catholicism and nativism, but he carried only Maryland.

5 Rating  Millard Fillmore was a fair president because he didn’t really accomplish much.
