Mike Mazzalongo Lesson #9

Top Ten Sins & Struggles 10 – Laziness 9 – Anger 8 – Cursing & Gossiping 7 – Pride 6 – Neglecting Church 5 – Coping with Change 5 – Coping with Conflict 4 – Easily Discouraged 3 – Overanxious (worry)

Worry = Feeling of fear Negative speculation Focused on past/future

Worry Produces: Over stress Loss of energy Burn out

For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? - Matthew 6:25

Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life? And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, - Matthew 6:26-28

yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith! - Matthew 6:29-30

Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. - Matthew 6:31-32

But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. - Matthew 6:33-34

Dealing with Worry Requires… 1. A Correct Perspective

Dealing with Worry Requires… 1.A Correct Perspective 2. An Attitude Shift

Dealing with Worry Requires… 1.A Correct Perspective 2.An Attitude Shift 3.Convert Stress and Worry into Joy

Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. - James 1:2-4

Perseverance mode instead of worry mode.

But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. - James 1:5-6

For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. - James 1:7-8

Stress from worry is caused by 2 things: We worry about providing for ourselves We worry when trials interfere with our pursuit of happiness

Jesus and James Say: God will supply Persevere instead of worry when suffering
