Perkins funding made a difference at our college by: Providing our students with structured pathways to maximize their time at the college. Providing students with timely guidance at every step along their journey. Providing faculty and administration with timely professional development opportunities to improve instruction, advising, assessment, data use, and program quality across the four divisions. Providing an avenue for collaboration between Wake Tech and Wake County Public Schools to bridge secondary and post-secondary CTE education.

We strengthened the academic, career and technical skills of our students by: Providing faculty opportunities to receive Industry Certifications to improve instruction and integrate innovation into curriculum. Providing faculty opportunities to return to industry to re-skill and re- tool for better integration of academics with career and technical education. Providing faculty and administrators professional development to re- skill and re-tool for better integration of academics with career and technical education. Providing faculty advisor support for Phi Beta Lambda and SkillsUSA.

2. We linked career and technical education at the secondary level with career and technical education at the postsecondary level: Opening the lines of communication with Wake County Public Schools to create a new Local Articulation Agreement with Wake Tech. Opening the lines of communication between our Career and College Promise Coordinator, department head, program directors and other administrators to increase CCP/Dual Enrollment at Wake Tech. Creating more than 10 9-14 Career Pathways in the Applied Engineering Technology Division Increasing Career Development and Career Advising initiatives through Career Program Specialists and eVising course development.

6. We developed and implemented evaluations of our career and technical education programs by: Monitoring and evaluating students receiving tutoring and academic assistance through the Disability Support Services Monitoring and evaluating the passing rate of students in developmental courses Monitoring and evaluating the success rate of Developmental students in subsequent College-level courses. Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of student success counseling Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of Career Counseling and workshops

7. We Initiated, improved, expanded, and modernized quality career and technical education programs, including relevant technology by: Purchasing equipment to enhance our career and technical education programs and modernize the quality career technical education we provide to our students. WTCC measures this activity by students enrolled in and completing programs using new equipment purchased to initiate, improve, expand and modernize CTE programs. WTCC documents this activity by Quick Facts, the Annual Performance Measures Report, retention and completion rates.

We provided services and activities that are of sufficient size, scope, and quality to be effective as evidenced by: a)Academic advisingOngoingStudent Services and Curriculum Education Services WTCC measures this activity by the number of students served. WTCC documents this activity by records documenting the number of students served and how they are served. Activity records and evaluations are maintained by the Academic Advising Department. Advising forms are completed and maintained within our electronic imaging system. Evaluations are provided to students at the conclusion of the advising sessions. Managers and staff review this feedback on a regular basis. SENSE and CCSE data are also utilized to evaluate efficacy of this activity. a)Mandatory student orientation for all new students to Wake Tech. Ongoing Student Services WTCC measures this activity by E. First Year Progression Percentage of first‐ time fall credential‐ seeking students attempting at least twelve hours within their first academic year who successfully complete (“P”, “C” or better) at least twelve of those hours. (from 2015 Critical Success Factors Eight Performance Measures for Accountability). Learning outcome questions are incorporated into all seated and online orientation sessions. An additional presentation evaluation is also completed by attendees and guests at seated sessions. WTCC documents this activity by records documenting the number of students served and how they are served. Activity records are maintained through orientation management software and online orientation systems. Evaluations are maintained by the New Student Orientation department.
