Pre-reading 1. What do you know about J.K. Rowling? J.K. Rowling wrote ten versions of the first chapter of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone ( 《哈利 · 波特与魔法石》 ). She wrote much of the first Harry Potter book in a café in Edinburgh ( 爱丁堡 ), Scotland. She writes all of her books in longhand ( 手写 ), rather than with a computer. Whilst at university she had little money, so, for friends' birthdays, she wrote them personal little stories.
