Reading Counts… Students read books and take tests on the computer in the library ON THEIR ON TIME. Students READ when finished with an in-class assignment!

READING COUNTS Reading Level –Written on the first page of the Learning Log CHECK LL AFTER last week in Sept. –Must read 1 non-fiction Students can print out their progress any time to show parents. Scores are updated at mid-trimester and the end of each trimester. Nightly reading (15-30 min.)

Homework/Grading Scale Late work- 50% credit May turn work in for ½ credit up until approx. the last two weeks of each trimester trimester Most work is started/finished in class

API Growth The Academic Performance Index (API) system is based on year- over-year test score performance through a two-year cycle. The Base score is for the first year and the Growth score is for the second year. Comparing the API Growth to the Base shows whether or not this school's test score performance improved between spring 2009 and spring 2010 (as reported in September 2010). The API ranges between 200 and 1000, with 800 as the statewide goal for all schools.
