Proposed next steps for an international information tool on recognised higher education institutions Consensus on “searchable portal” at the international level Consensus that a “pilot study” is a useful first step with 8-12 countries from different regions and economic development levels Consensus that the “list of recognised higher education institutions” will only be updated at the national level

Proposed next steps for an international information tool on recognised higher education institutions It is proposed that UNESCO and OECD will provide and elaborated proposal for a pilot project on an international tool on recognised higher education institutions for the third drafting meeting In the elaborated proposal, countries will be asked to indicate their interest to take part in the pilot project Voluntary contributions will be needed especially for developing countries but also for convening an expert group to take part in the pilot study.

Next steps 1.Revision of draft guidelines based on the discussion at the second drafting session and consultation with the experts group by beginning of November 2.Revised draft to be sent to participants of the drafting meetings by mid November 3.Comments on the draft by early December 4.Revision of the draft and distribution by late December 5.Third drafting meeting, 17-18 January 2005, Paris
