THE LAW E-Rate Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA) Internet Safety Curriculum requirements Safety on the Internet Appropriate behavior while online, on social networking sites, and in chat rooms Cyber bulling awareness and response [may be taught during the mandated bully prevention program required by law – 14 DE code 4112(D)] Curriculum must be taught in EVERY school building LEA must have an Internet Safety Policy for the LEA

WHY ISAFE… Curriculum fully articulated by grade level Curriculum clearly aligns to the federally required content Instructional Resources: Digital Curriculum Materials (30-45 minutes) Teacher Guide Printable Student Worksheets Age-appropriate Activities iSAFE provides a usage report for districts in the event of an FCC audit or State Monitoring DCET funds the iSAFE program

CHOOSE A DELIVERY METHODOLOGY Three Delivery Methods 1. Teacher-led Instruction EdBrowser (web-based delivery) 2. Student-led Instruction: Local Install Subset of the full curriculum Students use desktop or laptop computers in 1:1 environment. Download interactive lessons and install on computers. Double-click on the icon to open and play content in a web browser. 3. E-Learning Environment: LMS Download LMS must be SCORM-compliant. Students log into their learning portals and complete the activities from home or at school. Build a custom online program with files packaged for an LMS

DESIGN YOUR CURRICULUM Start with required E-Rate compliance topics: Safety on the Internet Appropriate behavior while online, on social networking sites, and in chat rooms Cyber bulling awareness and response Add more topics as appropriate.

Establish an individual as the LEA Administrator.

I-SAFE DATABASE: GETTING STARTED All schools should already be in the database. Ensure you are working in the correct contract year.

There are no teachers in this year’s database. You must, ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY, upload a STAT to add multiple teachers.
