FME in the Northern Territory Government FME User Conference August 2007
2
Welcome Role of NTLIS Dissemination database architecture –Examples Spatial data download Automated mapping –Examples Questions
3
What is NTLIS ? Northern Territory Land Information System A cooperative arrangement between NT Government agencies, other governments and the private sector, designed to deliver better outcomes for government, the community and industry from the use of spatial data resources Focused on sustainable spatial information management Build and maintain spatial infrastructure Consult to government agencies –application design –data storage methods Coordinate training, licensing and support –gis.support@nt.gov.au
4
Dissemination Databases and the SDI
5
Example: Aerial Photography Index Data comes in as CSVs from flight contractors –includes: photo centre point, scale, bearing –obliques FME appends latest data to 4 existing oracle tables: –frame centres, frame coverages, run lines, project coverages Data – driven client applications: –Aerial Photography Index –Google extractor Rapid turnaround / publish timeframe ‘Codifies’ data load procedure
6
Example 2: Building Asset Management System BAMS ‘spatialisation’: currently in development Data maintained in AutoCAD DWG files –Greater than 20 levels / feature types –periodic simplification using LISP routines down to 4 levels –FME workbench run by the data custodian FME builds 4 dissemination database tables: –primary assets, building & roof outlines, ground floor details Extract to ILISMaps & Google Earth Enterprise FME captures the conversion procedure
7
NTLIS Spatial Data Download: Spatial Direct Role based authentication: ILIS –layers –attributes Shapefile attribute substitution –ensure consistency between users ANZLIC / ISO 19139 metadata inclusion Auto downloader: used by –Police & Emergency Services maintain offline data stores –NTLIS web applications
8
NTLIS Spatial Data Broker: Development
9
NTLIS Automated Mapping Web form –select map or booklet options –retrieve output Users (NT Gov) can add custom regions and data layers Produces SVG and PDF output
10
NTLIS Automated Mapping
11
On the Horizon.. Increasing use of FME for dissemination database establishment -use in gaining buy-in to produce KML as interim to Oracle Automated Mapping: MapText –move from manually placed, scale based text –migration to Linux Spatial Data Download: Online Broker –public access
