Acceleration, Velocity, and Position Unit 4 Day 3
2
Do Now What is the relationship between position, velocity, and acceleration? Use the words "derivative" and "antiderivative."
3
Ex. 1 A ball is thrown vertically upwards with an initial velocity of 2 m/s from a height of 5 m. a)Find a function that give the ball's distance from the ground after t seconds. b)How high is ball 3 seconds after it is thrown? c)When is ball at highest point? d)How high is it at this highest point?
4
Ex. 2 A particle moves along the x -axis such that its position at time t is given by a function x ( t ), for 0 ≤ t ≤ 5. Its acceleration is given by a ( t ) = 6 t – 12. Its initial position is at -2 and its initial velocity is 9. a)Find the velocity and position functions for the particle. b)Find the open t -intervals on which the particle is moving to the right.
