2 Career Choice n When I get older, I want to be an ultra-sound technician/medical sonographer. n An ultra-sound technician uses high frequency waves and sonography to generate 3 or 4 dimensional images of soft-tissue organs inside the human body. n They usually work with pregnant women and patients that have internal/organ problems. n This career is a good fit for me because I like people, work well with technical machinery, and enjoy the medical field. Also, I LOVE babies!!

3 Salary n On average, ultra-sound technicians make approx. $84,000 a year, depending on job performance, experience, and level of education. n Monthly (w/o taxes): approx. $7,000 n Yearly (w/o taxes): approx. $84,000 n Monthly (-20% taxes): approx. $5,600 n Yearly (-20% taxes): approx. $67,200

4 Education n Must learn about science and computer technology in high school. n Need to get a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology or Pre- Med studies n Must register for American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) n Need to understand how to use sonography equipment. n Have study about biology, anatomy, physics, radiology, and medical terminology. n My dream is to graduate from UCSD with a major in “Diagnostic Medical Sonography”.

6 Groceries n I went shopping with my mom at Stater Brothers and other supermarkets. I realized that the total amount of money needed for meals, junk food/snacks, and various types of food added up to about $170 per month. n Average: $2,040 yearly for groceries.

7 Cooking n I made spaghetti for my family. There were five people at the meal. n It was my grandmother’s recipe and took three hours to simmer the sauce…very boring! n We had garlic bread and a salad with it. I overcooked the bread a little, but it was really good. n I estimated the cost of groceries to be $100 per week or $400 per month.
