6. Before you apply for access arrangements…….. Does the child achieve at or above average score for age on a test of writing speed? (DASH, Gym Trail) Is the child achieving at least level 3 on practice key stage 2 mathematics tests, with or without help reading the questions? When the child is writing independently, does s/he spell at least 75 per cent of words correctly and achieve at least level 3 on practice key stage 2 spelling tests?

8. New National Curriculum Teachers should note that in the 2014 to 2015 academic year, pupils in years 2 and 6 should be taught the current programmes of study in English, mathematics and science. 9. Progress between EYFS and end of KS 1 The early learning goals do not translate precisely to National Curriculum levels. However, as a broad rule of thumb children who reach a good level of development at the end of the Reception Year ought to be reaching at least Level 2b by end of Key Stage 1.
