Increased participation and inclusion of local communities and ethnic civil society in decision-making related to water governance and hydropower development on the Salween River

Salween villagers and CSO networks are better informed and coordinated, more active, and more effective in their campaigns. Local communities and concerned CSOs have full access to information and are included in dialogue and decision-making with government and companies concerning proposed hydropower projects on the Salween River.

Government policies include improved social and environmental safeguards and recognize and protect the rights of refugees, IDPs and indigenous communities. There is greater awareness and involvement of national and international governments, agencies, and NGOs on Salween River values and the imminent threats from hydropower development.
