4. SODAPOP CURTIS  Is the middle brother  Dropped out of high school  Works at the DX gas station with Steve  Gets along with Ponyboy  Plans to marry Sandy when she graduates  Ponyboy describes him as movie-star handsome

5. DALLAS WINSTON  Nicknamed Dally  Was arrested at the age of 10 in New York City  Has been in jail many times  Rides in rodeos  Ponyboy doesn’t like him but he does respect him

6. TWO-BIT MATTHEWS  Real name is Keith  Shoplifts  Prize possession is his switchblade  Enjoys going to school- a junior at 18 ½  Jokester  Likes to get drunk-”boozed up”

7. JOHNNY CADE  Next to the youngest of the gang- 16 years old  Was beaten up badly by the Socs  Has a bad family life- gets ignored or yelled at all the time  Is described as a lost puppy that has been kicked too many times  Is very quiet  Gang’s pet, especially “Dally’s pet”

8. STEVE RANDLE  Sodapop’s best friend  Works at the DX as a mechanic  Very talented and knowledgeable of cars  Thinks Ponyboy is a tagalong- doesn’t like him very much

9. THE SOCS  The rich kids from the west side of town  The enemies of the Greasers  Drive Mustangs and Corvairs  Like to beat up the Greasers when they get a chance  Stands for “The Socials”
