3 Adjectives  An adjective is a word used to modify a noun or pronoun.

4 Adjectives  They modify in one of three ways… –1. By telling what kind:  It’s a dangerous situation.

5 Adjectives –2. By pointing out which one:  I want to dance with that girl.

6 Adjectives –3. By telling how many:  I want to have two dates.  I’ll have several sandwiches.

7 Adjectives  Brain teaser- –True or False? Adjectives always come before the noun or pronoun it modifies?

8 Adjectives  Answer- –False. It may come after the noun or pronoun for emphasis.  The dude, tall and suave, fell down.

9 Adjectives  Articles are the most frequently used adjectives: –A, an, the.  The raccoon tastes like chicken.  He ran over a frog, which also tasted like chicken.

10 Bellwork  Recall the three questions that may be answered by adjectives.  In your notebooks, think of your favorite pet, object, or person, and come up with descriptive sentences that include adjectives that answer all three questions

11 Adjectives  Some adjectives are pronouns and vice versa. –For your memorizing pleasure, see p. 11 for a fun-filled listing!

12 Adjectives  Answer- –True. A noun can modify another noun or pronoun.  McDonald’s –A McDonald’s cheeseburger is tasty and deadly.
