5 CSR Activities of MFAR  Mfar gives construction workers the best amenities similar to those available in a factory environment. The following steps are taken in the company for the care and welfare of the workers:  They provide workers with clean accommodation, bunk beds, mosquito nets, free electricity, filtered drinking water etc.  Hygienic & clean toilets and bathing areas are provided separately for ladies and gents.  Separate cooking areas are provided for safety reasons. No cooking is permitted in the living accommodation.  Creches are provided for the children of the workers. The children are provided with uniforms, books, stationary and mid day meals.  They ensure that all their workers are insured as per the Workman’s Compensation Policy and covered under the Employees Provident Fund scheme, where we pay from the worker’s side also.

6 CSR Activities of MFAR  Workers participate in the National Safety Day Celebrations and other events related to EOHS.  Free and fair chance for the workers to air their grievances and suggestions to the Management through the various site meetings and the EOHS & Suggestion Committee.  Giving rewards to the workers for giving good suggestions.  Organising social functions like ‘mela’ for the workers and their families. This is an effort on the part of the company to help its workers unwind and enjoy.  Distribution of blankets and gifts to the workers and their families.  Providing certificate training to the workers, at the end of which they are presented Certificates indicating

7 CSR Initiatives in Mundgod  MFAR commenced its CSR initiatives from Mundgod. The projects at Mundgod were being executed by local contractors prior to MFAR taking up the Choera Monastery project in February 2002. This resulted in great deal of resentment as the local contractors were losing their business and the local labour their livelihood. To resolve this major issue and to win over the local population, Mfar took the following steps: MFAR Awarded smaller works to local contractors. Gave jobs at the project site to the local labour. In addition, Mfar carried out the following:  Constructed a toilet block near the Police Station and the Tahsildar Office.  Took up the construction of Shiva Temple which was successfully completed on 4 Mar 05 and the temple was inaugurated during “Mahashivarathri” on 7 Mar 05.  Mfar provided free supervisory assistance for the construction of a “School for the Blind”. Mfar had also assisted in the acquisition of this land from the Government and the money towards cost of construction was donated by Gaden Shartse Monastery.

8 Rehabilitation of Flood Victims in Bihar - 2008  In the wake of very heavy and unprecedented floods in North Bihar in September 2008, Mfar decided to do construct 200 hundred houses for the families of those who were effected by the devastating floods.  This desire was conveyed to the Bihar Government.  A meeting was held at Raj Bhavan with the Hon’ble Governor of Bihar Mr. R. L. Bhatia. The meeting was also attended by Mr S K Negi, Principal Secretary to the Governor and the Head of Indian Red Cross Patna.  During the meeting the following decisions were taken: Mfar was asked to design independent units of 25 sqm each. During the designing process, it was decided to have tin roofs but the state government wanted RCC roof. Since the cost of RCC would be more, it was decided to reduce the number of houses to 100. The work shall be executed directly under Mfar supervision. The people effected by the floods shall be involved in the construction work. This initiative will help them to get some employment at this critical juncture. Mfar will carryout rehabilitation work in Araria, which is the most severely affected area.
