Background Difficult to find a one stop location or program to help self diagnose illness Often many sites are consulted before determining illness takes time can build up anxiety multiplemayhemmamma.com

Problem and Purpose Medication and dosage is required to accurately treat various symptoms avoid incorrect or unnecessary self medication Designed for parent, guardian, or caretaker use Child complains of some type of illness/pain Can be difficult to determine what is wrong and what remedy to use Provides ease of mind to parents potential “diagnosis” suggested medication and dose no pharmacist needed

Input Data User is prompted with various yes/no questions Each question helps to narrow down the potential “diseases” until a diagnosis is made User is prompted whether they would like to “learn more” via WebMD or load another prognosis vs. symptom matrix

Data Structures and Results DrugGUI - GUI which prompts the user with a question and retrieves user input. Calls upon DrugFinder. Yes and No pushbuttons DrugFinder – works to narrow down the prognosis vs. symptom matrix and refreshes DrugGUI with the most relevant question. SolutionsGUI- GUI which displays the possible prognosis and OTC medications, prescriptions, and home remedies. pushbutton: WebMD page pushbutton: load a new file

Challenges Most efficient way to ask for user input yes/no? various options? continuously updating drop down menus? where to start? common complaints- include chronic issues? Existing database medication lists/flowcharts not comprehensive enough or too detailed no standard formal, difficult to access directly from database

Future Work Make the database more comprehensive, expand to adult use include more symptoms and diseases disease specific questions (eg. Have you been to Africa recently?) Prompts non yes/no buttons multiple responses (eg. pain in the stomach and lower back) Dosage Option for unclear diagnosis Mobile app
