In what specific ways does Frederick Douglass depart from his positions? 4) What genre(s) comprise Douglass’ text? What are characteristics of these genres? What rhetorical or stylistic strategies does he use to give his “autobiography” a deeper purpose?

Writing Diagnostic – Select One Use your best free-style academic prose Write for 20-25 minutes The Battle of Shiloh in southwestern Tennessee, represented on the next slide, was fought by over 100,000 troops (60% Union; 40% Confederate). 3,482 died and 16,400 were wounded. Given today’s lecture, the above historical details and your own knowledge of the Civil War, view the painting and answer the following question. What story of war and what “history” of the Battle of Shiloh does this painting depict and/or perform?
