MR. MCCORMACK’S CLASS RULES
2
RESPECT I always treat each student with respect, and I expect the same in return. I do not “flip out” on students and as a result I do not expect students to lose their temper with me. Respecting your fellow students means not using any bullying behaviors. This includes: using racist, sexist, or homophobic language. It also includes saying negative comments to students who want to share their opinions in class. Remember: Disagree with statements but do not attack people in a personal way.
3
PHONES Phones are not allowed to be used during class, and this includes texting or taking pictures. I will warn you to put your phone away once, but if you ignore me and take the phone out again, you will be asked to put your phone in a box for the rest of the period. If you refuse to do this, I will have to report the incident. I will allow phone use when there is shortage of computers for a research project or class activity.
4
LEAVING THE ROOM/SKIPPING Nobody leaves the room if all the passes are gone. Students that ask to leave every day are abusing their privileges, and if this is the case, you will have to come after school to make up the time that you missed. If you are out of the room too long, this becomes a safety issue, and the incident must be reported. If you are gone for more than 10 minutes and you return without a pass, you will not receive credit for any class activities that you missed. You will not be able to make up any quizzes, tests, homework, or get credit for presenting a project if you skip the day it is due.
5
SEATING Seats are assigned alphabetically, but they may be changed if people are interrupting the class with talking. On most days some sort of group activity will be done, and the desks will be moved around.
6
FOOD AND DRINK If you are eating a snack or drinking something, make sure you do not make a mess. If you do not clean up after yourself, you will not be allowed to eat or drink in the class. Everything you are drinking must have a cap on it, and if your drink leaves moisture on the desk, wipe it up before you leave.
7
PUNCTUALITY Show up on time! Chronic tardiness will lead to after- school detention with me, and if the tardiness continues, I will have to report you.
