7. How will Long Island P-TECH work? It is a 6 year, high-school- to-college program, which is absolutely free. It is 100% funded by the New York State P-TECH Grant. Uniondale, Freeport, and Wyandanch Public School Districts act in partnership with businesses, SUNY Farmingdale and Nassau and Western Suffolk BOCES.

The Long Island P-TECH Process Year 1 - 9 th Grade Your child will engage in a rigorous course sequence in science, math, career development and essential 21 st century skills, such as problem solving and critical thinking. Year 4 - End of 12 th Grade Your child will have completed all the coursework necessary to earn a New York State Regents Diploma and credits towards an Associate Degree. Year 6 – Final Year Your child will have all the requirements to earn the Associate in Applied Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology. At the end of the program your child will be guaranteed an interview for possible full-time employment with one of the business partners.

Attend academic assistance/extra help as needed Attend all Summer, Saturday, and Vacation activities Participate in business internships with mentors and partners Graduate with your N.Y.S. High school diploma and the AAS from Farmingdale
