4 The Flexography Process a flexible printing plate is produced and placed around the Plate Cylinder. the Anilox Cylinder is partially immersed in ink the Anilox Cylinder applies the ink to the raised surfaces on the plate sometimes a Doctor Blade and Fountain Roller are used to improve ink distribution the image is then printed onto the material by the Impression Cylinder

6 Advantages  High printing speeds Give/State (1 mark) Explain/Describe (1 mark) fast turnaround of job SO  Able to print on a very wide variety of media SO a very wide variety of product requirements can be accommodated  Fast drying inks SO a very fast printing method

7 Disadvantages  Plate are expensive to produce / High set up costs Give/State (1 mark) Explain/Describe (1 mark) process only suitable for high print runs SO  Difficult to reproduce fine detail only suitable for simple images SO
