Panthera Onca The binomial nomenclature of the Jaguar is Panthera Onca. Jaguars are near threatened according to The Red List.

Five Interesting Facts 1.) The Jaguar God of the Night is the ruler of the underworld. 2.) Jaguars fur is golden or orange. 3.) Their spots are called rosettes. 4.) Jaguars usually weigh 100-250 pounds. 5.) Each roar is unique.

Diet The Jaguar eats: Rodents Deer Fish Cattle Turtles

Habitat Jaguars live in rainforest, marshes, scrublands and grasslands.

Reproduction J aguars have 1-4 young after only 3-4 months pregnant.

Human Threats Humans threaten jaguars because of deforestation. People use so much paper, that we are having to cut down trees, which is taking the jaguars home. Hunting also is taking down the population of jaguars, because they are wanted for their skin.

Numbers? Adaptions? Only 15,000 left, and it is decreasing. Color of the jaguar blends with its surroundings.
