“With Bush's Exit, A Chapter In American Politics Closes”
2
When Jeb Bush suspended his bid for the GOP nomination, it brought to a close a chapter in American politics that has lasted nearly four decades. A period when the Bush family played a major role influencing the course of the country. The combined Bush family (George H. W. Bush, George W. Bush, Jeb Bush) political stats just going back to 1980 are beyond impressive. Two presidents. One vice president. Two governors. 7 national campaigns. And there were lots of victories, but unfortunately for Jeb Bush, the most recent one won't be going in the win column. It wrapped up among loyal, but sad supporters in a hotel ballroom in Columbia, S.C. As Jeb Bush began his primary night remarks on Saturday, it soon became clear he was bearing bad news. He would finish fourth place at best in the state GOP contest. Not good enough to justify continuing. "The people of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina have spoken," he said. Then, occasionally choking back tears, he added, "So tonight I am suspending my campaign."

In Other News For seven hours, the shooter drove from one target to another, police said, gunning down victims at random. And in between the shootings, he apparently picked up passengers for Uber. As families mourn the deaths of six people in Kalamazoo County, Michigan, one question looms above all else: Why? Why did the gunman do this? http://www.cnn.com/2016/02/22/us/kalamazoo-michigan-what- we-know-and-dont-know/index.html http://www.cnn.com/2016/02/22/us/kalamazoo-michigan-what- we-know-and-dont-know/index.html http://www.cnn.com/2016/02/22/us/kalamazoo-michigan-what- we-know-and-dont-know/index.html FBI Director James Comey says his agency's demand that Apple break into the iPhone of one of the San Bernardino shooters is "about the victims and justice.” "Fourteen people were slaughtered and many more had their lives and bodies ruined," Comey wrote. "We owe them a thorough and professional investigation under law." His comments are the latest public move in a clash between federal law enforcement and the giant technology company that has fueled a fierce debate about security and privacy. Apple CEO Tim Cook has vigorously opposed the FBI's demand, saying the government is asking the company to "hack our own users and undermine decades of security advancements that protect our customers."
