It is the ideal opportunity to obtain vital information and contacts before the first day of school, allows your child to become familiar with Apollo, and also spend time with other kids in their MERLIN class. The Apollo Elementary PTA’s mission is to encourage and support a positive school environment with our students, staff, families and community as we strive to be advocates for programs and policies that nurture youth and education. Should I be concerned about the impact switching schools will have on my child and family? – No! The MERLIN program is outstanding and Apollo is an excellent ISD elementary school with fantastic PTA and school programs. – They will make new lifelong friendships and will rejoin their friends from their ‘home school’ in middle school. Q: Will my child be missing out on the typical elementary school experience? – No! Apollo is just like your home ISD elementary school! Recess, library, field trips, performances and more – just think of it as an ISD school with a dedicated MERLIN program. Q: Will my child stay in the same class? – The MERLIN class stays together for 3rd, 4th, and 5 th grades with a different teacher each year. Q. Will I have to drive my child everyday? – Yes, it is a bummer that families have to drive their student to Apollo. BUT, carpools make life easier (and the drive to school fun). – It takes a village and our Apollo MERLIN families have worked together to form carpools for anyone interested. Q: How can I find carpool options? – Apollo PTA will coordinate with MERLIN teachers to connect families interested in setting up carpools. Email introductions will be based on home school locations.
