S-band processing electronics R. Ainsworth (summer student), S. Boogert, G. Boorman (Royal Holloway) A. Lyapine (University College London) Weekly ATF2 project meeting 27 August 2008
2
Electronics fabrication Mixer electronics 8 (dipole) + 1 (reference) + 1 (spare) = 10 channels Fabricated 6 new processing “boxes” Complete but.... Need complete system tests (1 week) 4 from ESA spectrometer test beam Just returned from SLAC last week Need some minor modifications (2 weeks) Shipping to KEK
3
S-band electronics fabrication RHUL summer student constructed new processing boxes Each individual component tested and recorded Total channel tests next few weeks but expect few problems Improved since ESA tests
4
S-band processing electronics RFLOIF Control board Pulse amplifier Filter Amp Limiter FilterAmp Filter Mixer PC
5
Other systems LO locking box Locked simply to 714 MHz (*4 = 2856 MHz) Cavity frequency chosen to leave 20 MHz IF Digitiser systems locked via Mellors locking box Calibration system Distribute calibration tone Power distribution Low voltage supplies Computer control Needs EPICS interface (quite simple) Attenuator and amplifier gains Temperature and voltage monitoring
6
Infrastructure from BPM to electronics Hybrids Cables Full size rack required Mixer electronics to digitizer systems Cables to existing readout Middle of ATF2 line Requirements DAQ C-band system S-band sband 714MHz ATF2
7
To discuss Location of processing electronics Cabling (BPM↔Mixer and Mixer↔Digitizer) Rack location Rack space (full height rack required) Installation/test schedule Processing can be included with C-Band system Functionally very similar, provided cavity works well Other people responsible for S-band? Uniform system is better but people need to be trained! Shipping of electronics Beginning of October (Sept not possible due to holiday problems) Stewart to visit KEK 4th till 25th September (Later not possible due to teaching)
