2 Purpose This lesson explains what is being done in the areas of intervention and prevention of drug and alcohol abuse.

3 1. Identify the internal and external pressures teenagers face. 2. Explain ways to handle or resist internal and external pressures teenagers face. 3. Describe effective prevention techniques employed by that national, school – and/or community – based programs focused on substance abuse.

12  Learn how to refuse drugs effectively.  Prepare yourself for situations where you may be offered drugs.  Analyze media and advertising.
