2. Presentation Options Choose between: A persuasive speech format o Act as if you are in a debate An overview format o Present the general controversy o Explain your position and findings/research

3. Prepare, prepare, prepare Do NOT wait until the last minute to prepare your presentation – Remember: teacher and students will ask you questions – You will look like a nincompoop if you are not organized; your grade will reflect your nincompoopery Do NOT simply read from your paper; you will FAIL

4. Presentation Requirements 5- to 6-minutes in length (letter grade deduction) Must use PPT (min. 5 slides, 2 pics). May wish to include: – Charts w/ stats – Video clip – Podcast May also bring: – Handouts – Actual objects If using a video or podcast, length should not exceed 1- minute All video clips must be approved by me 1 day prior to your presentation

5. PowerPoint Tips Font size 30+ Roughly one text-based slide per minute  5-min presentation = 5 slides Bullet points, not complete sentences Use PPT as “talking points” for you and reminders for audience Print PPT slides for your ref; don’t turn your back on audience Keep PPT clean and simple

6. PowerPoint on USB  Bring PPT to me on flash drive before school on the day of your presentation (or earlier)
