4 UNIT I: LESSON #3 II. In the English Colonies, over time, two distinct versions of what it means to be an American begin to emerge. A.Jamestown, and the “Planter Colonies” of the South will evolve with one set of values, priorities and norms. B.Plymouth, the “New England Colonies” and “Mid-Atlantic Colonies” will evolve as polar opposites of the South. Why? How?

The first town is “Charles Town.” In 1670 these lands split becoming North and South Carolina. 3.1733 Georgia is created as a buffer zone from New Spain. Filled with ex-prisoners from debtors prisons.
