The FSW Portal is the single point of interaction for all things related to Florida SouthWestern State College. The FSW Portal provides access to diverse information and processes, personalized to a user’s role as faculty, student, or staff. Among the resources available through the FSW Portal are email, registration and courses, event calendar, personal calendar, group tools, and more. Link to the portal login page

Adjunct faculty are expected to monitor portal activities and announcements on a regular basis. FSW Email Account: ◦ It is college policy that all Adjunct Faculty must use their FSW e-mail account for all college-related correspondence.

The Faculty Academics tab contains links to the courses you are teaching this semester and any previous semesters if applicable. Choose the correct term from the Course Schedule drop down menu (the upcoming semester courses may be the only courses available if you are new to FSW).

FSW Web Email Access Faculty can access their Outlook email at this link: https://owa.fsw.eduhttps://owa.fsw.edu It is important that faculty check email at least twice a week. Students, Deans, Department Chairs, etc. use Outlook email for correspondence. Tip: Logging into webmail will notify you when your password for the network will expire.

Changing your FSW password When passwords need to be reset or if you lose access to the Portal, Canvas, or Webmail you must use the Portal login to update your password:

Syllabus Information Where to find the current syllabi templates: ◦ Login to the MyFSW portal ◦ Click on Document Manager Tab ◦ Click on VP Academic Affairs ◦ Then select the link for syllabi ◦ Templates are sorted by School or Division Each semester, faculty are required to submit their syllabi for approval. Syllabi should be in Microsoft Word and emailed to your Department Chair or Program Coordinator.

Early Alert Program Early Alert is an intervention system designed to identify, reach out, and provide support to students who are experiencing challenges or having difficulty with their coursework. The Early Alert program is a collaborative effort among faculty, staff, and administrators with the goal of increased student retention and success. Attendance Verification All faculty are required to complete attendance verification for every student in all of their courses each semester. Due dates for attendance verification for each semester are published in the academic calendar for faculty. Note that attendance verification is linked to student financial aid disbursement. Directions for completing attendance verification are sent each semester by the Registrar.

Final Grades All faculty members are expected to enter final grades no later than the published deadline. Deadlines for submitting final grades are posted in the academic calendar and a reminder is sent from the Registrar each semester. All students must be assigned a grade.

Adjunct Faculty Offices Although adjunct faculty are not required to post office hours, there are designated office spaces on campus for adjunct faculty use. Note that these are shared spaces for all adjunct faculty, and personal items, old texts, and reference materials should not be left or stored in adjunct faculty shared spaces. Office locations: ◦ Building H, Rooms H-108 and H-109 (key code 125) ◦ Building G, Room G-109 (key code 125) Adjunct offices have computers and access to the network printers in Building G or H. Use a USB drive to save and/or transport documents,

Accommodation and Make-up Testing Accommodation and make-up testing should be arranged with the Testing CenterTesting Center Note that make-up and accommodation testing is not available on a drop-in basis and students (not faculty) must contact the testing center to schedule an appointment.

Accommodation and Make-up Testing Continued Procedure for Accommodation and Make-up testing: ◦ Complete the “Makeup Test Form” (copies are in the H building Mail/Copier room H-118) and see Bob Mott in Building B, Room 107 or leave your testing materials in the drop box outside his office. ◦ Advise students to contact the Testing Center at 941- 637-5632 to schedule an appointment.

Classroom Access For security reasons, Public Safety will unlock classrooms according to the class schedule. If you arrive at your classroom and the door is locked, please call Public Safety at 941-637-5608 to gain access to your classroom.

Classroom Technology All classrooms are equipped with standard technology: ◦ Computer ◦ Projector ◦ Internet access ◦ USB ports for the transfer of files Directions for equipment use are posted in each classroom. If you have a problem with classroom technology, contact the IT Helpdesk at ext. 11074 from the classroom or on-campus phone.

Classroom Software Programs Standard classroom software technology: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access Adobe Reader Please use a USB drive for transporting files and do not save course documents on instructional computers.

Mailboxes Faculty are required to check their mailboxes on a regular basis. Adjunct faculty mailboxes are located in Building H, Room H-118 (door key code 125). For Science Adjunct Faculty, mailboxes are located in Yarger Science Hall, Building G, Room G-110 (door key code 125)

Copy Machines & Printers Work room locations: Building G, Room G-110 and Building H, Room H-118 All College personnel must use their BUC Card when making copies or printing. We request that you copy only those materials that cannot be distributed to students electronically. Also, please copy to both sides of the paper whenever possible.

Additional faculty campus locations Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) is located in Building H, Room H-116 with academic-related reading and multi-media materials. Faculty lounge is located in Building H, Room H-117. Student testing is not permitted in shared adjunct faculty spaces, the TLC reading room, or in the faculty lounge. The testing and assessment center should be used for student testing. See the section earlier on Make-up Testing.

Faculty Parking There are designated parking spaces on campus for faculty and staff only. Be sure to display your FSW parking tag on your rear-view mirror when parking in designated faculty/staff parking.

Course Evaluations Each semester and for every class you are teaching, students will evaluate your class using the student evaluation of instruction (SEI) The SEI is completed online Watch for an email in Fall 2015 with more information regarding SEI.

Classroom Observations At FSW, we are committed to student and faculty satisfaction and engagement. To assist with this commitment, classroom observations are used to provide feedback and recommendations for classroom management and instruction. Department Chairs or Program Coordinators will conduct classroom observations on a periodic basis. Faculty will be contacted by email with scheduled observation times.

Adjunct Teaching Portfolio The adjunct portfolio is a required process for all adjunct faculty. The due date is the last Friday in February. Recently, a three-year cycle has been instituted so adjuncts complete the portfolio once every three years. Instructions, workshops, and timelines for completing the mini-portfolio will be sent by email to all adjunct faculty.
