College of Social Sciences, 20073 Why Joint Degree project? Internationalization has been treated as an integral part of the college broader mission from the foundation of the College of Social Sciences in 1994. One of the main aims of internationalization has been adoption of European dimension to all Study programs. The idea of development Joint Degree program was matured for a few years in the College of Social Sciences. In February 2006 the application of the project was arranged and submitted to European Commission.

College of Social Sciences, 20074 College of Social Sciences is the first Lithuanian non-university institution that in August 2006 received the financial support of European Commission for development and implementation of Bachelor’s Joint Degree Study Program

College of Social Sciences, 20077 Goal of the project The goal of the 3-year project is to develop a first degree 4-year duration Joint study programme in International Business Management and begin its implementation in partner European higher education institutions.

College of Social Sciences, 20078 The main activities of the project Work plan of the project defines all activities, terms and responsible persons for it. The work plan is attached to your bilateral agreements and it is as a main guide for this project. The sequence of activities may differ slightly as well as terms and responsible persons.

College of Social Sciences, 20079 The main activities of the project A frame of major activities for JD project: Analysis of needs and requirements of professional competencies required for international business manager (12/2006-02/2007); Development of the program structure, content and assessment system (03/2007-01/2008); Creation of the joint quality assurance system (11/2007-01/2008); Formation of pilot group of students and pilot implementation of the program (01/2008-03/2008);

College of Social Sciences, 200710 The main activities of the project Testing and external evaluation of the program (04/2008); Improvement and legislation of the joint study programme (05/2008-06/2008); Admission of students in the partner institutions (07/2008-09/2008); Implementation of the joint study program at the partner institutions (09/2008-09/2008); Dissemination of the project results and good practices (10/2006-09/2009).

College of Social Sciences, 200712 Admission The first admission for the International Business Management study program with Joint Degree is going to start in July 2008. Students from all partner institutions can be enrolled for the Joint study program having been developed by the project.

College of Social Sciences, 200713 Mobility Students’ mobility in: College of Social Sciences (Lithuania), College of Computer Science (Poland), Braganca Polytechnic Institute (Portugal), Cumbernauld College (Scotland, UK). (Not less than 25 percent of curriculum in every institution)

College of Social Sciences, 200715 Diplomas After completion the Joint study program students receive Joint Degree, that is, their diplomas will be acknowledged by all partner institutions. Currently the issues concerned a form and official registration of Joint degree studies diplomas is in question in most countries and require particular time, patience and much joint efforts.

College of Social Sciences, 200716 The result of the project is considered not only developed and implemented joint curriculum of the course, but also created, acquired and collected means necessary for its implementation. Network of the program will integrate informational technologies as a mean for the smooth implementation of the program.

College of Social Sciences, 200717 Impact of the project Implementation of the developed program is particularly significant for non- university higher education institutions that train professionals for vocational activity and seek for their more successful integration into international European labor market.

College of Social Sciences, 200718 Impact of the project Impact of the project: integrated international and cross-cultural dimension into curriculum and learning outcomes, increased mobility between partner institutions, enhanced internal joint quality assurance through cooperation between partner institutions, and increased employability of first cycle higher education graduates.
