3 Purpose of School Provide SAUSD students and teachers with an opportunity to be innovators and collaborators around a unique instructional method, competency-based learning coupled with projects-based learning. Both students and teachers will be given the space and support to “fail fast, fail often”, learn daily, iterate continuously in the effort to provide our students with personalized, student- centered instruction that accelerates learning.

5 High Impact Teaching and Learning Teacher as a Facilitator Supporting empowered students who assume responsibility of their learning through playlists, reflection, goal setting and a range of other self-monitoring behaviors 1 Teacher as a Coach Build off of the strengths of each student to meet individual goals. During weekly one-on-one sessions, teachers will coach students through goal setting and offering of support and resources. 2 Teacher as a Leader Teachers are not only leaders in their classrooms but throughout the school and the school district. Teachers will collaborate together weekly to effectively support all students. 3

8 Project based learning Students engage in learning through authentic, project-based learning experiences. Personalized Learning Pathway Students participate in small-group or full class instruction. Students use playlists and digital learning resources. Flex time & Individual Mentoring Students have daily flex time to meet their learning needs for acceleration and reviewing concepts. Students meet weekly with mentors to review their learning plan and set learning targets Students work towards their individual learning targets through a flexible model of instruction that includes: 35% 50% 15%

16 The Digital Diary is an interactive notebook where students record evidence of, reflect on their learning, and share their learning with the teacher, fellow students and parents.
