1
Objective: Finding trigonometric functions of any angle. Warm up 1. 2. Make chart for special angles
3
Example 1 Find the value of each of the trigonometric functions of an angle in standard position whose terminal side contains point P (2, 3).
4
Trigonometric functions of any angle in standard position. P (x, y): point on the terminal side of angle. r: distance from origin to point P. Example 2 Find the value of sin, cos, tan. P (-3, -2) is on the terminal side of angle.
5
Quadrantal angle: Its terminal side lies on the x-axis or y-axis. Example 3 Evaluate the sine and tangent functions of: a.= b. = c. d.
6
Example 4 Use the unit circle to determine on which quadrant the terminal side of the angle must lie for the value of the trig function to be positive. a.Sine and cosecant. b.Cosine and secant. c.Tangent and cotangent.
