1. Career Research Project The final product will be worth 2 test grades

2. Deciding on a topic You should pick a career(s) that interest you! ▫DO NOT pick something you could not see yourself doing in the future.

3. Required components for English 2 Annotated bibliography 2 mini research papers (250-300 word minimum for each) ▫Each will be based on a different career ▫Each must also have at least 3 research sources ▫One of the sources for each paper must be a personal interview Overall reflection discussing why the 2 chosen careers would or would not suit you based on your research

4. Required components for English 3 Annotated bibliography ▫Narrow down to 1 career ▫Research career for training/education needed, job probability, and pay ▫Annotated bibliography must include 10 sources Shadowing ▫Shadow someone from his/her chosen career field for one business day ▫250-500 word summary/reflection of the shadowing experience

5. Required components for English 3 continued…. Research paper ▫Using research from the annotated bibliography, construct an extensive research paper. ▫Use 5-7 sources within the paper ▫Should be at least 750 words and include a works cited. Presentation ▫From the research, present the information to the class ▫This final presentation will count as a portion of the exam grade.

Creating an annotated bibliography When you create an annotated bibliography you should answer the following questions: 1.What is the main subject? 2.Give a brief summary of the info 3.What special features does this source have? (Photographs, charts/tables, links, etc.) 4.How do you plan to use this source to help with your final career project?

7. Creating an annotated bibliography An annotated bibliography is just like a works cited with a brief description of the source. Example: Author. Title. City: Publisher, Year. This book is a collection of articles that talk about child psychology. It covers the educational requirements, salary, courses you should take in school, and a job description. **You description should be at least 40 words.

8. Steps for creating annotated bibliography 1.Choose 1 or 2 careers 2.Find at least 2 reliable sources for each career. Reliable sources include: books, journal articles, and websites ending in “.edu or.gov “ 3.Check out the book, copy the article, or print the article if it is a website because you will refer to it several times during the project. a)IF you make copies, make sure you make a copy of the inside page so you will have all of the information for citing your source. b)If you print an internet article, MAKE SURE you have the DATE YOU FIRST LOOKED AT THE ARTICLE!!!

9. Things to do…. DO use CORRECT MLA style for each source DO double space Do use 12 pt. Times New Romans font DO KEEP UP WITH YOUR ARTICLES!!! ▫I will have a folder for each of you to keep up with your stuff that you can keep in the classroom until you need everything to write your final papers.
