Spam Spam is just like junk mail Sometimes it might address you by name The company sending the message is able to insert your name into the message- it does it for thousands of people’s names Spam can have computer viruses attached to it

SPAM in other messages You might also see SPAM on other things like Facebook, Twitter, or even online games you are playing It will contain a link to something that is being advertised or maybe it just looks suspicious

If you have an email from an unknown person in your inbox – DELETE it Do NOT open it Opening Spam sends a message to the company that you got it, and they will continue to send you spam

If you see suspicious looking links or advertisements online, just ignore them

If you open a message by mistake, don’t click on links or download files that come with it. Never reply to emails or messages from people you don’t know Don’t reply to spam Watch out for messages that ask for your private information. No one should ever do that. Do not reply or click on links that you do not trust Tell an adult you trust about any message that makes you uncomfortable or comes from someone you don’t know.

Sometimes the email or post comes from people you know! Never click on a link in an email or in a post unless you ask the person first if they sent you a link
