3 THINK OUTSIDE THE SCREEN First impressions matter Make eye contact Posture Business Attire Boys: slacks, dress shirt, tie, dress shoes Girls: slacks, dress or skirt (knee length or longer), dress shoes

4 KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE Teachers Other school staff Parents Community members Health industry professionals

5 PRACTICE All members must be prepared to present Speak in a loud and clear voice Be prepared!

6 TELL THE STORY You must have evidence for your statements Save every tree.

7 SHOW IT Use images to support ideas Graphs Pictures **Limit the amount of images in each slide

8 KEEP IT SIMPLE Would you really want to read a whole slide of this font? Probably not, after a while your eyes would strain and the mere act of comprehending would become a total pain. You would likely give up trying. Do you want your audience to do this? Use decorative fonts only for slide headers, and ONLY if they are easy to read. Choose background wisely

9 USE COLOR, CAREFULLY Use color combinations that can help you deliver the details of your story, but don’t get too flashy or busy.

10 KEEP IT SHORT Only use phrases Keep text to a minimum Use text to provide guidance

11 GO BIG Use a large font, no smaller than 36 point.

12 RUN TESTS You will be practicing during advisory on Tuesday April 17 th.

13 LEAVE TIME FOR QUESTIONS Timing is very important. Limit presentation to 5 to 7 minutes 5-6 minutes PowerPoint 1 minute for Newsletter

14 PRESENTATION DUE DATE Friday April 8 th- Final Draft of newsletter. April 15 th -Final Draft of of Powerpoint IDP grade will count in ALL of your classes Showcase Night is April 21st Appointment will be given Parent/Adult attendance is mandatory Be punctual Dress professionally
