STUDENTS’ PROPOSALS  Students responsible for observance of the rules  Reminding the rules every day in the morning gathering  Energy saving lamps  Reminding signs  Recycling bins  Inform families and community

PROPOSED ACTIVITIES Create reminding signs

PROPOSED ACTIVITIES Place reminding signs

TEACHERS’ CONCLUSIONS  The students were enthusiastic  Younger students were more willing in measurements  Older students more willing in supervision  Students clashed with their parents about: ◊Behaviour ◊Consuming ◊Honesty in answering the questionnaires  Improvement in consuming behavior

ELECTRICITY In Greece the production of electric power from plants as raw material use: Lignite 60,41% Oil 14,85% Natural gas 14,46% Hydroelectric 10,14% RES 0,14% not renewable sources of energy

Indicatively: In our school building in one month we consume roughly 3.000 KWh If the factory that supplies it burns: Lignite: we need for our power roughly 800 kilos of lignite, 800 litres water and will be pulled by the mine roughly 8.000 kilos earthLignite: we need for our power roughly 800 kilos of lignite, 800 litres water and will be pulled by the mine roughly 8.000 kilos earth Oil: we need for our power roughly 882 litres oilOil: we need for our power roughly 882 litres oil

For the electric power in our school there are emitted: If the factory that supplies it burns: Lignite: roughly 6.400 kilos dioxide of coalLignite: roughly 6.400 kilos dioxide of coal oil : roughly 6.900 kilos dioxide of coaloil : roughly 6.900 kilos dioxide of coal

According to the measurements that we made in our classes (C2, D2, F1) for our power in one month were needed: roughly 10 litres oil or 9,5 kilos lignite and in atmosphere there were channelled 78 kilos dioxide of coal

If in our school we turned off the light in all the rooms one hour least per day: We would gain in one year:  1.140 KWh  304 kilos of lignite or 336 litres oil  2.600 kilos less dioxide of coal

For a classroom we would pay less: 0,05€ X 160 days = 8€ / classroom So, for all the classrooms 8€ X 23 = 184 € totally

From our measurements we observed that: The rooms that are found to the sun turned on least the light. Consequently Apart from our individual behavior the consumption depends and from the orientation of building concerning the sun.

WATER According our measurements and observations: In each toilet of each floor in each break existed at least an open faucet Consequently according to our measurements: 1.A dripping faucet, in 1' is wasting 10 ml so in 15‘ break 150 ml are wasted 2. An open faucet, in 1' is wating 80 ml so in 15 ' break 1,2 ml are wasted 3. When the faucet remains open as when we wash hands in 1' are wasted 2,5 l so in 15' break 37,5 l are wasted

How much water we waste in our school in one school year? 1.A dripping faucet : 2,7 L X 160 days = 432 L 2.An open faucet : 21,6 L H 160 days = 2.456 L 3.When the faucet remains open as when we wash the hands: 675 L H 160 days = 108.000 L

How much costs the water that we waste in our school in one school year? A dripping faucet : 0,432 m 3 X 0,65 = 0,28 € A dripping faucet : 0,432 m 3 X 0,65 = 0,28 € An open faucet : 2,456 m3 X 0,65 = 1,6 € An open faucet : 2,456 m3 X 0,65 = 1,6 € When the tap remains open as when we wash the hands: When the tap remains open as when we wash the hands: 108 0,65 = 70,2 € 108 m3 X 0,65 = 70,2 €

Each student: washes his hands for 1 '. If he leaves the faucet open constantly wastes water for about 45'' 10 times/day X 365 days = 3.650 times the year so 1,5 l. X 3.650 = 5.475 l

Each student: washes his teeth for 2'. If he leaves the faucet openconstantly wastes water for 1' 45 '' If he leaves the faucet open constantly wastes water for 1' 45 '' 3 times/day X 365 days = 1.095 times/year so 4,5 l. X 1.095 = 4.927,5 l

NATURAL GAS According to our measurements As high or low was the medium exterior temperature in the classrooms the medium temperature was regularly 20 ο Celsius This means that gas saving is due to rational use and proper regulation of central heating system This means that gas saving is due to rational use and proper regulation of central heating system
